Thanks to the amazing people at #HomeOfThe3DAsuarus, I'm actually doing pretty well in my animation class now. I don't think I've gotten my grade up much yet, but I'm keeping up, learning, and improving, so I will have a passing grade by the time the class ends.

I went in there asking for help a couple weeks ago, and I've been amazed at how helpful and nice everyone is. I've had people leave me notes and comments on my page offering to help, or answering questions I had, even after I logged off for the night.

Frogs


It seems I've had a fungus introduced to my critters. So far everyone is fine, except the Pacman Frog, who has been acting a bit weak. Today a herpetologist came and looked at him and took samples. He says it could be chytrid. The good news is, Pacman Frogs can tolerate higher temperatures than chytrid can. So I've raised him temperatures. If that's what it is, he should be better before the tests come back.

Either way, it's pretty frustrating when frogs get sick, because no one knows anything about them, not even vets. The herpetologist I know specializes in amphibians, so he's one of the best resources out there, but even he admits no one knows much. After I graduate, I'm hoping to spend more time studying about frog diseases.

Annoyances


I just need to rant for a moment...

I'm really sick of people passing off photo touch-up jobs as digital paintings. Smudging a photo for half an hour is NOT hard work. Doing a realistic REAL digital painting IS.

I'm annoyed by people who try to pass off words like "methinks" as an actual part of their vocabulary. Who the hell actually uses the word "methinks" as a regular part of conversation?

I'm disgusted by people who think that "display tank" means "who cares about proper animal husbandry as long as it looks cool". Display tanks should display your knowledge of actually taking good care of your animals, NOT how many different species you can stick into an overcrowded talk without killing them within the first week.

I'm sick and tired of having a dumbass roommate who can't figure out why he can't afford to pay rent on time after buying a Nintendo and 4 tattoos. Who also has a long long long list of other highly obnoxious, rude, and inconsiderate things he does. I am not your father. I am not your maid. I am not really even your friend if you're going to treat me like crap. I don't give a shit about how your day went or what movie you just saw. So stfu and let me have a moment of peace and quiet after working all day long so I can pay rent.

I hate it when artists just put . as the description for their art. Surely you put some sort of thought into your artwork. Say SOMETHING about it at least.

I hate Sunday nights, because that means I have work in the morning, and that just hangs over my head all afternoon.

Movies


Good movies I've seen recently.

Shoot 'em Up. Clive Owen kicks ass. Repeatedly. And without breaking a sweat. With carrots.

The Number 23. I always knew Jim Carry could do something brilliant. He's always been pretty good, but this... THIS is brilliant. Intelligent suspense.

The Departed and Blood Diamond. Two great movies that both have Leonardo DiCaprio. I hated him when he was younger, with all the Titanic hype, but he's a great actor.

3:10 to Yuma. I saw this last night. I'm kinda on a western kick at the moment, so this was exactly what I wanted to see. Russell Crowe kicks ass, even if you don't like him. I guess that's the irony of him.

I guess that's all I have to say for now. I'm not dead yet, but all this work and school might do me in soon. If anyone has a specific photography request, hit me up. I never did post pictures of my newest frogs, so maybe I'll do that. They're probably my favorites at this point.
