Artist's Comments

This is a Cynops pyrrhogaster egg, or Fire Bellied Newt. I only have two of these, so hopefully they both survive. :)

Aww, the only firebellies I had were adult and both male. I'd be excited to see more pictures of young ones if you can keep up with their progress. :]

I'm really nervous about these little guys. I was shipped almost two dozen eggs. About half a dozen hatched and died in transit, and all but two of the rest of the eggs went bad... I'm not holding out a lot of hope for these last two, but I talked to the lady I got them from and hopefully I can get more eggs soon. I do plan on posting pics as they develop, I'm just not sure how long they'll last. :\ I guess We'll see. My other newt larvae are doing a bit better though. :)

Glad to hear the others are doing better. I wonder why all those others went bad and why only 6 hatched in travel. Keep hoping for these two, maybe they'll come out to be super-newts because of their ordeal. In which case, you could teach them to shoot lasers from their tails and charge $20 to be shot by one. :D

Best of luck with the hatching, I hope both turn out okay as well :)

Aww, I'm sorry most of them died. That's really sad. :crying: I hope these two survive and grow up to be really healthy and big! And pretty of course.

People say if you stare at the darkness long enough, it stares back. The only reason it stares back is because you start to lose yourself to your own reflection.

Thanks. :) Hopefully the lady I got them from will be sending me more soon. They're pretty high maintenance and tricky to keep alive, even when they arrive just fine. I've got my hands full with all the little babies of both species right now. :)
