Question

Which animal do you guys want to see more of? I have some stuff that I don't think I've posted before. A couple types of aquatic newts, Rainbow hoppers, leucomellas, some snails and bugs... I haven't taken recent pictures of Shan, the pyxie frog. He's getting big...

Reilly's getting big as well, although there's around 1,699,379 cat pictures on DA already (that's billion). lol You think I'm kidding? Go do a search for "cat". :D

So let me know if there's anything in particular I should take pics of. I need to stop being lazy. :P

Thank you for the fave :)
hey....nice pics and more important....nice collection..... which Phyllomedusinae do you have and do you breed them?
I keep Ph. hypochondrialis, Hylomantis lemur and Ph. bicolor. I am still searching for a female, to try and breed them. Next will be Ph. vaillanti and Ph. tomopterna. Maybe next year I'll start with Ph. sauvagii and Ph. boliviana.... (my rooms a bit tooo small to expand as much as I would like to right now)

Salut, achi
Thanks. It sounds like you've got a pretty nice collection as well. I'd love to get ahold of H. lemur. I haven't seen them for sale in the states for a long time.

As far as Phyllomedusinae, I just have hypochondrialis and sauvagii at this point. My sauvagii is young. I think I need another male to get the hypochondrialis to breed. The male was calling like crazy for a while, but they never laid. I'm hoping to get more sauvagii and possibly bicolor and tomopturna soon as well. Depends on what my dealer gets in.

well, good luck.... I currently have 1.0.3 hypochondrialis. The male is calling for a while and since a week I hear a faint answer. So it seems like 2.0.2. According to the proportions I suggest that at least one of the small ones is a female. I have luck, because there is a bit of an Phyllomedusinae-Cluster around me. So I had no Problem to get Hylomantis lemur. I know at least three successfull breeders around me. It is more a Problem to get bicolor and vaillanti here. Not much breeders around there, especially in europe. Arent there any fairs or so around there? I stepped over some links where they mentioned "Hamburg" in Penssylavanis....maybe Michael, J. Novy can help you to find something. He does quite a lot with Phyllomedusa, t seems [link]

Ah yeah, how did you try to breed them? The protocol of Dante fenolio seems to work out quite well. Keep them a bit warmer and dryer and then feed them very much and put them in a rain chamber (I would prefer to increase the humidity, drop the temperature and increase the rain-intervals).... I well send you a PN with the link to the fenolio-paper.....just try that one ;)
As far as I know, there are no H lemur breeders in the US, outside of zoos. I believe there are a couple zoos breeding them, but they aren't allowed to sell to hobbyists. I haven't seen them imported recently either. There are a lot of fairs, but they focus mainly on snakes and geckos. We do have Frog Fest, but that's mostly dart frogs. Still fun, but I like tree frogs. :)

Novy is a great guy. I've talked to him on the phone and he said I have the hypochondrialis set up correctly for breeding. I'll probably cycle them again soon. They're not doing anything right now. I'm going to try and buy some bicolors from Novy this year. I'm waiting to see what my dealer gets me first though.

Oh man, you are a lucky guy.... I hope to find a female bicolor this year ;)....
Get bicolor, they are great animals and it seems they are not shy at all. If I handle my male he is a lot less active than my hypochondrialis oder lemur.
I wrote an email to him, too. I would like to know his bicolor Setup.
I think you won't get any imported lemur. They are nearly extinct. There has been a nice story about a british scientist who imported them as they were told to be extinct. They laught as he asked for an export permit, but he was lucky to find them. I think they won't allow an export for pet-trade any longer
Thanks for the :+fav:'s :sprint:
